The first trip we took was to see Aunt Lauren in Athens in early March. Now that they are moving to Jacksonville, Florida we went to help her get things organized so the house could go on the market. Uncle Richard already had to move to Jacksonville to start his new job at the beginning of March, and Todd had to work so it was just the Huffs...and the dogs.
Meredith decided that she wanted to walk Sunny on the leash.
Sunny did not want to walk on the leash.
She is heading down the hallway...but he isn't!
Lauren's dog Dozier came to see what all the fuss was about.
Sunny most definitely outweighs Meredith so is wasn't long before she pulled so hard that she fell over. But he is pretty patient with her.

Meredith is standing on Pop Pop's feet - she picks the person with a broken hip to stand on! But she thought it was really funny!

The week after our trip to Lauren's house, everyone was back down at our house. Lauren had to go to a wedding and Mom and Dad had a follow-up appointment with the orthopedic surgeon.
Nana was trying to teach Meredith to hold her hand while she is on concrete (and close to the street). The concept has eluded Meredith so far.
She did NOT want to hold hands.
We finally put the handle on her bobby car and it is so much easier to push her around now! Of course she would rather push it herself!
Nana told her she could run on grass as long as she walked on concrete. Therefore, she spent as much time as she possibly could on the grass!
She pushed her way through the hedge to our front porch, and she was really proud of herself for this accomplishment!
And once she did it once, she had to do it 10 more times...
Meredith is very good at removing her clothes, including her diaper. So you will frequently see her without clothes in pictures - some days we can't keep her dressed (we make her keep the diaper on though!). It is usually just at home, not when we're out, so we count our blessings. Anyway, on this day she was finally using a fork correctly (to eat strawberries) and she looked so cute with her feet crossed too!
She still likes to play with the glasses that Great Aunt Martha gave her - but we took the lenses out to make them a little safer.
That same weekend, we also went to the City of Daphne Easter Egg Hunt. Meredith had a blast!
Despite what it looks like, she was actually very cooperative with the Easter Bunny. She was one of the few kids who didn't get upset and let the Easter Bunny hold her for a picture! She is just making a silly face here but she is not upset, she is laughing!
This was Meredith's first Easter Egg Hunt and she really liked picking up eggs. It only took her about 2 seconds to get the hang of what she was supposed to do and she was all over the place picking up eggs! The hunt got kind of wild so Todd didn't manage to get a picture through the crowd. This is right after looking through her eggs to see what she got.

Besides the egg hunt, they had all kinds of activities for the kids, face painting, hot dogs and popcorn, petting zoo, pony rides, inflatable bouncy slide, etc. Most of it she was too young for but some of it she really got into! The train was one of those things.

Most parents stood back and watched but we weren't entirely sure that she wouldn't jump out the window while the train was moving so Daddy followed along beside the train.
She is ready for gymnastics! She climbed all over these things and did a good job of balancing!
She also had a snowcone. The only flavors they had were strawberry and blue raspberry (bright red and blue) so we just gave her plain ice - she didn't know the difference and she loved it.

The next day Aunt Lauren and Nana gave her Easter presents, which included more eggs with cheerios and M&M's in them. It was at this point that Meredith decided she really liked M&M's.

The next week we were over at her friend William Davidson's house playing on his new swingset/fort that he got for his 2nd birthday. The kids loved it!
The next weekend, the day before Easter, we took Meredith to our neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt. She had a good time there too - it was a little calmer than the Daphne Egg Hunt.
The Easter Bunny came to this Egg Hunt too! This time Meredith remembered him from the weekend before. All the other kids around her were a little timid when the bunny showed up, but she was not - she went right up to him and patted him on the knee!

And here she is with Mommy! Her Easter dress is one that Nana made for her mom almost 30 years ago!
We had to see what the Easter Bunny brought her...of course she went right to the Backyardigans toy!
After church we went to Mimi and Papa's house. They also had Easter presents for her, which included more M&M's in eggs. She had a blast.

We also had an egg hunt at Mimi and Papa's house! Meredith had fun with it too - no competition for the eggs!

Later on, she played on the slide at Mimi's. We put a pillow so she wouldn't hurt herself on the patio when she went down the slide. George got on the pillow and wouldn't move, but it didn't stop Meredith - she went down the slide anyway on top of him!
Of course she put on her hat. She LOVES to wear her hat!
She loves to go down the slide on her stomach. And she is constantly on the move!
Papa pushed her in the neighbor's swing.
She was EXHAUSTED on Easter Sunday at the end of the day. She fell asleep on the way home before we even left their neighborhood. She still has the straw from her cup in her mouth!
Back at home, and again she has taken her clothes off (but she loves her hat and insists on putting it on backwards!) She is looking at her family picture book.
She has commandeered our stepstool for her own uses. Besides her hat, she also likes to wear her shoes even when she has taken her clothes off.
We all went to Auburn for a meeting that Todd had to attend. The Thompson family was also there since Jason had to attend the same meeting. We don't get to see them much since they are in Maryland (but moving back to Birmingham in June!). Here are the guys with their daughters, left to right: Todd, Meredith, Libby (4 years), Jason, and Lauren (3 months).
The next day while Daddy was attending his meetings, Meredith and I went back to Montgomery. We went to see Nana at school and got to see the (temporary) special visitor at her school - Morton the duck. Nana is the librarian at a magnet school which has a science lab and they have lots of pets - birds, fish, an iguana, a rabbit, etc. but the duck can't stay - he is only there for a short while. Some college girls at the University of Alabama that someone knew got him as a pet and then when they got ready to go on Spring Break a few weeks later, they were just going to release him into the wild. Someone who knew better (one of the teachers at Nana's school) said that if they did that he would die - he was too little - so they took him to school and raised him there (he went home with the teacher every night but the kids at school got to help during the day) until he was old enough to go out into the wild - they are going to slowly release him this summer into the pond on someone's land who lives out in the country and has other ducks. So luckily poor Morton was saved from an uncertain fate, and that is how he ended up at the school. Meredith is crazy in love with ducks right now so we knew she would love to see him before he goes to his more permanent home.
Morton is just a baby so he will follow anyone around - she thought that was neat.
She even got to feed him!
Uncle Dave, Aunt Joanna, and Prather brought Todd back to Montgomery after the meetings when they were on their way out of town. Meredith and Prather got to play together for a little while.
Aunt Lauren gave Meredith this cute outfit that has Georgia bulldogs on it, and I was trying to get a picture where you can read it. But of course she wasn't being cooperative. She is really getting into puzzles lately. She also likes to blow the horn at Nana's house.
Nana found a toy camera that Meredith can play with, which she thought was fun. She holds it up to her face and says "cheese."
And where do you think she learned to watch cartoons in the recliner like this...from her Daddy of course!
